Who we are

Newsdash is the Data Fiduciary for personal data processed through the app and website, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

What we collect

Phone number, name, language and location preferences; approximate location to show nearby news; device identifiers for notifications; for reporters, KYC and UPI details. We do not sell personal data.

Why we use it

To show local news, send alerts you choose, pay reporters, prevent fraud and comply with law. We process data on the basis of your consent or legitimate uses permitted by the DPDP Act.

Your rights

You may access, correct or erase your data, withdraw consent, and nominate a person to exercise your rights. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier processing.

Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purpose or as required by law (for example tax records), then delete it.

Children

We do not knowingly process data of children without verifiable parental consent, and do not track or target ads at children.

Security and breaches

We use reasonable security safeguards and will notify the Data Protection Board and affected users of a personal data breach as required.
